What we think:
I have owned many pairs of binoculars but my Steiner 8x22 Predator binoculars have become my "must have" favorites for two reasons. The first is how well they pick up game animals. According to Steiner their Predator series binoculars "feature a high contrast game enhancing objective lens coating which makes animals pop out in heavy foliage. The Predator adds considerable contrast to the picture. This process is called C.A.T. - for Color Adjusted Transmission. The Predator optics are bright in low light, brighter than most models in this performance range". When hunting deer I have found the Steiner C.A.T. lenses to work exactly as Steiner says they will. It is easy to pick deer out of heavy cover with my 8x22 Predator binoculars.
The second reason I love my Predator 8x22 binoculars is their small size. I have larger binoculars which are better in low light and have greater magnification, however in the field their weight and bulk are often an inconvieniance. The Predator 8x22's are small enough to fit in any pocket. I keep mine in a shirt or jacket breast pocket where they are easy to reach and then tuck away when not in use.
